Surrender: The songs and stories of lifting it up...to God

Bill Osman shared some heartfelt thoughts tonight that got started with the message from Tony (solid gold experts in the last post "The Office") and a long  drive where he choose to listen to the Purpose Driven Life, and then hammered the section on surrender with his full heart.  He talked about taking his hand off the steering wheel, so that if he is already driving we don't have to give up control in a crisis. He talked about practicing surrender, in the morning by putting the day in God's hands, putting things in His hands he wants to control but can't, calling Him Lord and Savior.  Finally asking for help to surrender to the things he doesn't have the strength to surrender.  Brian shared a letter he had written to the group holding up Jesus on the cross as an example of surrender, facing the night before the ultimate choice.
That choice and the choice by Bill  have already affected many of us in the Band,  tonight we shared many stories and planned many more.  Thanks Bill, you're a true brother.

The Office: 5 minutes that could change you forever

A few MP3 highlights from what may be one my favorite messages from Tony Portell (9/14). Addresses the questions 1) How did I get here? 2) What is God's plan for my life? 3) How do I get to God? About 5 minutes total.

Happy Band of Brothers

Henry the V

But we in it shall be remembered- We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; For he to-day that sheds his blood with me Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile, This day shall gentle his condition; And gentlemen in England now-a-bed Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here...

Aragorn A day may come when the courage of Men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the Age of Men comes crashing down, but it is not this day! This day we fight!

William Wallace

"Yes!" Wallace shouted back. "Fight and you may die. Run and you will live at least awhile. And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here as young men and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they will never take our freedom!"

Wild at Heart: Band of Brothers

This gives a topline vision for the way men find God, and in the process, find themselves.

On Christ the solid rock I stand

More and more the past year has been about this...On Christ the solid rock I stand, an old tune with Ancient Truth....Our value, hope, purpose, meaning, identity must be based on our identity as a Child of God. A child loved by God.
